Automation today plays the biggest part in creating a convenient and comfortable lifestyle for everyone, at home or anywhere in the world that uses it. This is why technology innovators started Smart Homes and Smart Office. Technically, Smart Homes and Offices are the installation of automation to residential or industrial properties. These allow convenient control over various essentials at home or at work such as lightings, media, air conditioning, and many more. With Smart Homes or Offices, human efforts will be reduced and productivity within the systems of automation will increase, all whilst keeping a conserved energy power.
However, Smart Homes and Offices do not always conserve energy, it all depends on how efficient these devices and systems were designed, and most importantly, how we use them.

It doesn’t only give us hints on how to conserve energy, but are also effective energy-savers, themselves. Most, if not all, state of the art smart devices are equipped with sensors that detect various factors that are essential to their way of operation such as motions, time, occupancy, temperature, lighting distribution, commands, and more. These factors give sensors the idea on whether to keep their system working or not. One of the simplest examples on how Smart controls work is when a Smart Office is not occupied, sensors will detect no motion from human (that they can actually detect through radiations) and it will automatically turn the lights off; and when a person actually goes into a specific area, sensors of smart devices will detect his motion and will then turn the light on in that specific area, or wherever that person goes. That is why many offices around the world use Smart devices; it is efficient in conserving energy consumption.
On the other hand, not all users are aware of how to effectively use their smart devices at home or at work. This results in consuming more energy than what’s supposed to; and, not all smart devices can actually be energy-saving. This is why it is very important for users to understand their systems and gadgets before using and/or activating them. Smart Homes and Offices truly does help us in working out our tasks more conveniently and effectively conserving energy consumption that sustains the world’s nonrenewable energy resources, but it all, of course, still depends on how smartly and efficiently we use them. At the end of the day, Smart Homes and Offices are just homes and offices, and we humans are the ones using their advantages for our benefits. We should always be mindful of how we operate them so that we can actually say that these devices effectively do help conserve our resources.
